B i o g r a p h y
Natalie Portman was born as Natalie Hershlag in Jerusalem (Israel) on June 9th, 1981. She moved to Washington when she was 3 years old, relocated to Syosset, New York, where she lived until she finished high school. She was discovered at age 11, at a pizza place, by an agent who intended for Natalie to model. Natalie wanted to act, however, and six months later she landed het debut role as Mathilde in "Léon", starring opposite Jean Reno.
After she did a few more movies, such as "Beautiful Girls", she put her focus on high school, from which she graduated in 1999. She worked on movies during the summer and also did a few plays.
Being a straight A student allowed her to enroll in Harvard, where she wanted to study psychology. She received her degree in 2003.
