{ P U R P O S E }

The first thing you see when you visit this site, are the network's principles in the announcements section. Please make sure you also read the FAQ before emailing me or applying for any Fixations of your own.

The backstory follows below in case you would like to know my motivation behind starting this network.

{ H I S T O R Y }

A computer is not only a great way for people to use to write a paper on biochemistry or to find information on Napoleon. A computer is the gateway to the internet, and the internet is what ties all 6 billion inhabitants of earth together. You can easily make friends and keep in touch with them.

But the internet is also a fantastic place for those who are interested in the art of webdesign and photosops as well as for those who are interested in the world of entertainment. With the help of websites, webmasters can created homes for the fans of a certain celebrity or subject in entertainment so they can turn to it. Fansites are for fans, by one or more fans.

I define fandom as more than that. Sure, someone who states he or she is a fan is truly a fan, but I feel that more can be done. The community that brought 6 billion people closer together is the same community that can bring fans of particular subjects closer together.

A Fixation is being run by a webmaster, but the webmaster teams up with those fans to create the content. The idea here is to have fans working with one and other to create a place online for others to turn to in case fans feel like expressing that they are fans. This by means of joining a clique, submitting their fanart and wallpapers, by talking to each other at a group or a forum and much more. This way, fans feel more involved and maybe this way, the internet community will be more fun and connected again. Not everyone has the time or money or means to run a whole fansite, but that doesn't mean these fans don't wish to be an active part of a fandom.

The key about a Fixation is that it's not a site for a subject, but a site dedicated to all the fans of that subject. Its by us, for us.

To compete with other networks is not the goal of this network. Fandom should never be about competition - that's no way to honor anything. The sole purpose of this network is to exist for people who feel the need to be an active fan. This network doesn't care about quantity; all that matters is quality. Constant pressure is not what is given and is not what should be received. You saw what happened the last time.

The goal: to create a different, relaxed and enjoyable community for all fans. If you think the concept is a good one, please continue browsing this site and the fixations created by the members of this community.
